Learning Tips

5 playful ways to practice letters

Point to letters in picture books, find the first letter of a familiar word, trace letters in the air, match uppercase letters and celebrate small steps. Keep practice short and positive.

Counting at home

Count socks while folding laundry, spoons at the table or steps during a walk. Ask “How many?” and let children check by pointing to each item once.

Learning colors and shapes

Sort safe everyday objects by color. Look for circles, squares and triangles around the home. Ask children to explain what they notice.
